This is an event to raise money for the National MPS Society, who supports families in their journey to make a treatment plan, find a cure and raise awareness. Adam Brennan, who is a resident of the Allenwood section of Wall Township, was born with a rare genetic condition called MPS 1 (Hurler Syndrome). At only four months old, he underwent a stem cell transplant to slow the progression of this disease. He has also had enzyme replacement therapy and other treatments to give him the best chance at life.
In June 2025, he went for a routine brain MRI and a tumor was discovered. He had brain surgery to remove the mass and they were successful in resecting most of it. However, it is aggressive and he is likely going to have a second surgery in July 2025.
Throughout his life, Adam has persisted and shown that he is a fighter, and he does it with a smile on his face.
The MPS Society has been a vital support, helping his family navigate care and early detection. It was at one of their family conferences that they learned the importance of yearly brain MRIs.
Adam recently graduated from preschool and is starting kindergarten in the fall. He has a passion for sign language, space, and learning new things. He is a kind friend with a big heart.
He is a shining light amongst his family as well.
Adam, was diagnosed with MPS 1 (One) by the New Jersey newborn screening back in May 2020 when he was only three weeks old. We feel that by raising awareness and raising money to give to the MPS society is our best way to give Adam the best life that he could possibly have.
