Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men and was founded on December 4, 1906, on the campus of Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. The Eta Mu Lambda (HML) Chapter is a local alumni (Graduate) chapter of the fraternity, founded in Gastonia on March 25, 1960. Our chapter is registered with the IRS as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and actively provides community partnerships, programming, and services to the communities of Gaston, Lincoln, and Cleveland counties. Each year, Eta Mu Lambda awards scholarships to graduating seniors in Gaston, Cleveland, and Lincoln counties. Since 2021, our chapter has provided more than $18,000 in scholarships to deserving students. We are asking your business/organization to assist us in this effort by providing sponsorship at some level during our Charity Golf Tournament on August 15, 2026, at Woodbridge Golf Links in Kings Mountain, NC, shotgun start at 8:00 AM.
