English River Outfitters (HERO) is a charitable, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in May 2008 with a mission to support veterans and their families through meaningful outdoor experiences. HERO owns and operates a 32-acre property that includes a fully handicap-accessible, five-bedroom, five-bathroom lodge, ensuring all veterans—regardless of physical limitations—can participate in our programs. Bordering 211 acres of public land, the HERO property provides an immersive natural setting designed to promote healing, connection, and renewal.

Through a range of services including hunting (turkey, pheasant, deer, and more), fishing trips, family events and workshops, and community gatherings, HERO removes barriers and creates opportunities for veterans and their families to reconnect, recharge, and find strength together. Our programs are designed to foster camaraderie, resilience, and well-being, offering a safe and supportive environment where veterans and their loved ones can build lasting memories and experience the restorative power of the outdoors.
