Dallas National, Austin Golf Club, and Brook Hollow carry the private-club pedigree; municipal golf in the big cities is a serious, crowded game.
The culture is oil, tech, university, and high-school football country that still finds time for 18. Heat is the agronomy story: Bermuda, overseed, and tee times that migrate toward dawn. Wind on the prairie west of the metros is a different sport from tree-lined Houston humidity. Charity golf is a business-card exercise at scale. Texas's signature is Colonial in May and a Memorial Park muni that holds a Tour event in a city park—democratic and demanding at once. The state is too large for one culture: Hill Country limestone, Gulf humidity, High Plains wind, and borderland desert all exist. Visitors pick a metro and still do not see the rest. Locals already know you need more than one trip.
